Firefighting crews made quick work of a fire at a Queen Street parking garage Tuesday morning.
Ottawa Fire Services said just before 8:20 a.m. that firefighters were at the scene between Kent Street and Lyon Street North after a 911 caller reported smoke and flames in the garage.
Queen Street was closed to traffic, the fire department said on social media.
About 10 minutes later came an update: firefighters had the main body of the fire “knocked down” and were opening up the garage’s ceiling to check for spread.
There was no word yet on the cause of the fire.
The city’s traffic centre said that Queen Street was closed between Bank and Lyon streets and Kent Street was closed between Albert and Queen Streets. Police were directing traffic.
