Multiple sources told People that Hadid and DiCaprio have been spending time together in New York City. “They are getting to know each other,” one source said, noting that they are not “dating” just yet.
But make no mistake: DiCaprio wants a romantic relationship with Hadid. “Leo is definitely pursuing Gigi,” a second source said.
A third insider threw a little water on the imminent romance rumor flames, cautioning that these have been group hangs. “They’ve been seen hanging out with groups of people,” the source said. “It’s only been a few weeks since the split. Since then, he’s been hanging out with friends and family.”
People‘s report of DiCaprio’s interest comes days after Us Weekly also reported that DiCaprio was keen on dating Hadid. But Us‘s source also noted at the time that the feeling wasn’t mutual.
“Leo does have his sights set on Gigi, but she hasn’t shown an interest,” a source told Us. “They’re friends, but she doesn’t want to be romantic with [him] right now.”
The source doubled down on her sentiment, adding that despite DiCaprio having his “sights” on her, Hadid “doesn’t have her sights on him.”
Hadid is 27—20 years younger than 47-year-old DiCaprio—but her age is notable given DiCaprio has garnered a reputation for not dating anyone over the age of 25. He recently broke up with his girlfriend of over four years, Camila Morrone, two months after her 25th birthday. Morrone’s age wasn’t the actual reason that their relationship ended, a source told E!. They were both “traveling a lot,” and that prompted them to reevaluate their relationship. “Distance played a factor,” the source said. “[The romance] ran its course.”
That source added that it’s possible Morrone and DiCaprio could reconcile, but “at the moment, it’s [their romantic relationship] not on.”
A “DiCaprio source” recently gave Page Six a more blunt assessment of how DiCaprio sees love right now: The actor is not interested in dating anyone all that old or set on having something serious. “By the time girls reach 25, they’re looking for more—they’re looking to get married and settle down,” the source said. “That is not what Leo wants. He does not want a family and does not want to be around women who may press him for that. The minute a girl meets him, the clock is ticking. If she gets too old, in a couple of years, she is gone. If she gets too close, in a couple of years, she is gone.”
